Pattern Portrait - FAYE
It’s time to tell the story behind Faye! Our popular checkered print has been part of our heritage collection since day one, it was one of the first patterns I printed at Frösö Handtryck in 2020. Faye is inspired by the modern mid-century textiles of the 1950s. I have countless books with vintage designs, one of my favorites being a book on vintage scarfs that was gifted to me by a friend who had found the book at a flea market. It’s such a versatile print that is easily combined with florals, stripes and larger scale textiles. The name Faye peaked in the USA between the 1890s and the 1920s and looking through my books I could picture a young mother in an American suburb in the 1950s, picking this fabric for the new home she was creating for her family. It also happens to be the name of pretty amazing women that inspire me – Faye Dunaway and my very own daughter Faye.
