Easter is finally upon us; my favorite holiday of the year. The days are longer and everyone and everything comes to life. Spring and summer is around the corner. After what feels like the longest winter in years we are all longing for singing birds, blue skies, bare pavements, sneakers and outdoor seating at restaurants.
Every year we pack up the car and drive the 6 hours down to our summer house in southern Sweden to spend Easter with family and a few friends. I love being there this time of year, the small town is rather empty and the long windy walks fuel me with energy and happiness. The daffodils grow in abundance in our garden (thank you previous owners) and I take every opportunity to sit down in front of the fireplace with a book, a cup of tea or (surprise) a gin sour.
This Easter I am going all in on the table settings! We had such a great time setting up our dining table in our shop in Stockholm, mixing some of my personal Upsala Ekeby collection with vintage finds and some beautiful linen.
When setting a table I go about the same way I do when designing a room, it’s all about the layers. Start with the foundation, the table cloth. (I like to use a felt table cloth underneath to create an extra layers and softness to the table.) Follow up with placemats, plates, cutlery and glasses. Finish it all off with napkins, napkin holders and lots of flowers and candles.
We also have a fun little DIY project for all you handy people. God knows I am not one of them, so I got some help from my friend Julia who can make pretty much anything. If you have fabric swatches laying around the house we put together a manual for how to make egg cozies out of them. All you need is the fabric and a sewing machine. I honestly don’t think you even need that much talent for this, I’m pretty sure even I could pull it off!
Thank you to my dear friend Roberta, the queen of table setting and The Table Love. Be sure to check out her gorgeous selection of tableware.
I wish you all a slow, relaxing and love filled Easter holiday. Take care of yourselves and don’t forget to also enjoy the JOMO. The joy of missing out. I know I will.
